Two half-day intensive workshops to equip associates and solicitors with business skills they require.

Participants will focus on:

  • Strategic issues facing the profession
  • The financial mechanics of a legal practice and what they can do to improve productivity and profitability
  • Determining the cost of production of different matters and how to staff these matters appropriately
  • What is needed to gain more business from their client base and attract new clients

Presenter – Sam Coupland

Sam advises in all areas of practice management working with owners and managers to develop their business. He heads consulting assignments in firm strategy, practice planning, equity valuations and equity transfers.

Sam is a frequent presenter on practice management related topics and fronts many FMRC programs. He is able to draw on the many resources of FMRC including the unique benchmarking studies conducted on the legal profession.


FMRC provides training, research and management advice to law firms. For the past 30 years it has been a major centre for training Australian and New Zealand solicitors in legal practice management. Today we act for major national law firms, mid-sized, boutique and progressive small firms.
